In the Pioneer Rails game you are a railway owner who is expanding his empire across borders. You make a plan, connect branches to the railway and try to meet the demands of the local population.
Pioneer Rails is a Flip & Write game. You use poker cards to build your poker hand and to expand railway lines.
The color of the map helps you expand your railway and connect you to new cities and surrounding attractions. When you connect to a city you will be given the opportunity to do a one-time bonus. When you surround a feature with your tracks, you activate it for endgame scoring. The value of the card is added to your poker hand, for which you score extra points at the end of the round.
There are also three common goals in each game, encouraging you to build in different directions.
